China's chemical industry's output up 10.5% in Jan-Oct

The value-added output of China's chemical industry rose 10.5% year on year in the first ten months of this year, according to figures released by the National Development and Reform Commission.
    The growth rate for the ten-month period was 1.6% lower than it realized in the same period of 2013.
    During the period from Jan to Oct 2014, the output of ethylene grew 7.8% year on year to 14.35 million tons, and those of plastics in primary form rose 11.4% to 57.48 million tons.
    The country¡¯s synthetic rubber output increased 11.5% to 4.34 million tons during the period and its synthetic fiber output increased 7.3% to 33.28 million tons.
    In the first ten months of this year, China produced a total of 26.36 million tons of caustic soda, reflecting a year on year increase of 9.1%, while the output of soda ash and calcium carbide reached 20.93 million tons and 20.6 million tons, up 7% and 10.7% from a year earlier, respectively.
